I actually hoped he would retire over this. Because even though I am a hypocrite who still watches and follows the NFL religiously, I am basically rooting for every player in the league to retire at all times and hopefully save themselves from a life of misery.

Extremely dumb question: would putting some sort of cushioning on the outside of the helmet, while keeping essentially the same shell underneath, potentially reduce head injuries? People would still get concussions and the like, but it would at least increase the surface area of contact, which I imagine would help.
