@ranwhenparked: I think BMW have made such a big deal about RWD in their marketing they could never sell a FWD car with a BMW badge. I guess that's why the Mini brand is so crucial for them, it allows them to compete in the FWD supermini market without being percieved as sellouts.

@fastmov4: Me too, it's a good looking practical car made when all major competing brands were moving into luxo-mini-SUV territory. I know many disagree but I was really impressed that they somehow managed to make a small(ish) wagon look so . . . . . Jaaag.

I knew a guy who had one of these in hot pink. Basically he wanted a classic car, and his wife wanted him to get something more practical. She made the mistake of saying "You can get one if you paint it pink". She really underestimated his desire for an old car.
