It's the insurance rate on these trucks which will ultimately decide what people think. If common repair costs are that much more money, then it means insurance rates will entirely reflect that. Not such a good thing.
Considering the large investment in (any) the car, I think it's still warranted to include a printed manual. That being said, the damn thing needs to be comprehensive. The Germans may over-complicate the engineering in their cars, but they damn sure know how to write a manual.
Not just all that, but it was technically a production car, made by one of the largest car conglomerates on the planet.
