In a half hour Star Trek: Lower Decks did an episode about lower deck officers on a Star Fleet vessel, a Klingon vessel, and a Vulcan vessel. Surely they could explore three officer’s back stories in an hour Strange New Worlds episode.

I just think Melissa Navia deserves some more opportunity to show of her acting chops. I’d like to see her get a girlfriend or something, perhaps with some existential angst due to conflicted loyalties or something. Or a “meet the parents” episode al-la Worf. Something of a history. Anything. Sibling who shows up as a…
It seems like everyone except Ortegas and Chapel have a fairly well developed back story, which is a shame. I’d like to explore their history more. They’re both characters I love and what we have seen of them is interesting (particularly their interactions with each other in season 1, which is about all we know about…
As I understand it (and we all know how fallible I am) the FAA grounded it due to the failure of the flight termination system, which failure surprised everyone including SpaceX. Last I heard they were going to double the detcord that was supposed to split the tanks, which may solve the problem. Or not. It turns out…
I don’t waste skull sweat on ranks in the Star Trek universe. The only ones that are particularly consistent are Captain, First Officer, and Admiral. And it’s even a little wibbly-wobbly about the First Officer, who is sometimes a Commander and sometimes as low as a Lieutenant.
Yeah, but Ethan Peck’s overacting aside, it was a pretty good scene.
Season 2 episode 2 Ad Astra Per Aspera is better, even though it’s more drama than space opera. The first season 2 episode was kinda Meh.
I for one welcome our new AI over lords. (If you will forgive the meme.)
I am ashamed that I know all these characters, yet have never seen any of the shows except various Gojira permutations.
Faster than a hangfire, you mean.
Thank you.
Not at the time. It was in Portland so I’m sure he just drove down for the weekend. That being 17ish years ago I suspect she stayed home with Experiment #1 and Experiment #2. Or at least she wasn’t at the table.
There were regular reports of Abe Vigoda’s death for decades, until he finally did die in 2016. His death was first reported in People Magazine in 1982, when they referred to him as “the late Abe Vigoda.” There was even a web site dedicated to his status:
No kidding. I’ve been reading Girl Genius at least that long. That’s why I went to that comic book convention to begin with. Phil Foglio was going to be there, but his table was mobbed and I didn’t get to see him. Aerie was along the back wall with a bunch of the other smaller creators.
Yeah, I know. I briefly met Aeire at a comic convention (not Comicon) in 2005 or so. Good gods, that’s 17 years ago!
I’d be happy with an errant SpaceX Falcon 9 booster. But if wishes were horses beggars would ride.
Yeah, particularly the Old Testament god was a real dick.
Jesus is real clear on plenty of stuff that apparently never gets filtered down to modern Christian congregations. For instance, how to treat immigrants: Welcome them and treat them well. And who gets to judge people (News flash: it isn’t them.)
