Yes. She seems wonderful. It’s so easy for politicians to say the right thing about the issue du jour without having to actually do anything about it. Nixon seems like the real deal. I have hope that she might be able to model a kind of progressive governance on the state level that can be replicated elsewhere to help

This is GREAT. We should abolish ICE, no question. I also like her framing of the issue as being a need to “protect our undocumented people.” That phrasing really underscores the fact that undocumented people ARE part of our communities, not some scary, alien out-group. If being the governor means governing the people

“The bot is not, in fact, a bot”

More compact (because no applicator), better for the environment (because no applicator), more effective with less leakage (because they expand 360°—think of a bullet shape opening into a sort of cone—instead of expanding out 2-dimensionally or getting weirdly long).

Right?! You use ketchup to entice kids to eat new foods, kids don’t usually need any encouragement to eat ketchup (which is highly processed sugar sauce with almost no nutritional value).

Your wife is correct.

This looks so tedious and slow!

I also learned this trick while working in a kitchen, and it has literally never not worked perfectly for me. (You also don’t need a separate container to shake them, you can just use the pot you boiled them in.)

I learned a (better, imho) version of your tupperware-shake-and-peel method when I was working in a kitchen during my school years:

It’s like the misogynist’s version of privatized profits and socialized losses!

Yeah, definitely, dude! Why do the right thing yourself when you can just let other people do it instead!? Genius.

Pushing others to do what you think is good

Actually, we all have an ethical duty to push ourselves to do things that leave the world better than we found it, especially when it makes us uncomfortable.

“Mark my kids as mine”

It’s not patronizing to acknowledge that the mother-child bond is special, it’s patronizing to suggest that that’s a reason to preserve sexist naming traditions.

Women definitely have more assumptions an expecations about their names.

Why not just alternate, first kid gets your surname, second kid gets your partner’s, etc?

“But genealogy” is like the worst justification I can think of. Honestly, in my family, people have all kinds of different last name situations, and it has caused problems literally never, so.

It’s only fair, right?
