@waddra: Awesome! I was under the impression that the latest Evernote builds didn't work in Wine.

Hey Evernoters! I made the switch to Linux quite a while ago, but still haven't found a good replacement for the desktop Evernote Application. What do you use for offline access? Or do you just use the web based client?

@RadicalEdward: I know you said he just wants to do some simple things, but a free, full-featured video editor is Lightworks. It was used in many major productions, but has since gone open source. It is still in beta, but you can get it here

@GHDave: What kind of features are you looking for that are not already in Google Calendar's print options? And do you have a printer?

The school I go to has an Acceptable Use Policy that states that we can't use our student email addresses, even though we used them before, and they exist. I would have used mine anyway because I'm not quite sure how they would enforce that, however I am fairly certain that they changed all of our email passwords.

If you aren't very comfortable with Linux, but willing to learn, Wubi is a great starting point. It will allow you to run a Linux OS along side Windows without having to adjust partitions. It is very nice because if you mess something up, or need a feature you can't quite figure out at that moment, you can just

Is there an equivalent for Ubuntu? Or can it run easily through WINE?

@tylerbrainerd: I agree, I have been working off of a 10 gb wubi partition/install of Ubuntu and I think it's just fine.

@kon324: I agree! It's even portable! It was featured here.

@KatsumeBlisk: I am kind of straying from the initial suggestion of a Netflix device, but if you don't mind using your computer you can easily connect it to your TV and find shows using Clicker, it has been featured here before.
