As a grown-ass adult in the market for a Nintendo handheld for their child, I'm not buying that. I trust the hinges more than I trust always exposed screens, and feel like stereo audio and the better battery life and screen of the XL are worth the difference, especially the refurb XLs.

Yeah, I'm quite pleased with the battery on my XL, but my spouse's standard is crap. So our daughter is getting an XL. The 2DS isn't even a possibility.

As a parent considering a portable system for their child, I'm still leaning toward 3DS XL, probably refurbished. Having exposed screens and a switch to sleep (instead of just closing) as well as the teeny-tiny screens and mono sound...it's just not worth it. I actually love my daughter and wouldn't want to force that

Unwarranted and completely irrelevant hostility about my additions to the conversation aside, I would like to clarify I didn't intend hardware when I mentioned development resources, but rather the human resources required for development. An iPod touch is nowhere near $1,000.

No, but I would have preferred they go with the larger screens of the XL and kept stereo. I can do without 3D, but without those features, this just feels like a beta version.

The tradeoff of breakable hinges, though, is exposed screen, so when this just gets dumped in to whatever bag, box or black hole where my kid keeps her stuff, there is more of a risk of screen damage.

That's where I keep my knees.

They're both media boxes that sit in an entertainment center and receive television and streaming content. I'm not sure the distinction is as cut and dried as you think, but since it's you, and not Microsoft, with a hard-on for the X1 moniker, we'll probably never know.

X1 is also the name of some sort of Comcast thingy, so potentially confusing. It's Xbone. Stop trying to make X1 happen.

I went to a local joint when it first opened, and I was chatting with the chef and he mentioned he used to work in a high-end place in Vegas that had real wasabi. I asked if he ground it on sharkskin and he seemed impressed I knew what I was talking about, so I told him to break out the good stuff.

I feel like every solution to cleaning something is, "just add vinegar." I'm convinced this is a devious plot by an alien master race hell bent on consuming us, house and all, and they're tricking us into marinading it for them.
