Are you sure it's appeasement? I think it's quite possible that a large percentage (perhaps a majority) of people who identify as pro-choice believe in "good" and "bad" abortions and consider abortion to be an inherently tragic thing.

I see a lot of pro choice people rushing to appease forced birthers. I'm tired of seeing mealy mouthed statements like "I'm not pro abortion. I'm pro choice" I'm pro choice and pro abortion and I'm not afraid to say it.
