It helps to read it in fits and starts. Really.

"Grab its motherfucking leg," she heard a voice say. And that's when Jackie knew she was going to be raped.
If we're calling out disturbing details: "Grab IT'S leg" stands out to me. Horrific.
I urge everyone to read the RS article. It's a harrowing, disturbing read, and very eye opening.
ALSO - UVA hired an outside investigator named Mark Filip, who is an ALUM OF Phi Kappa Psi. The Attorney General stepped in and got them to change that but GODDAMN ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME
+1 for the Governor calling for an investigation. Hell +2 but -1 if the school spearheads the investigation. Universities have made it abundantly clear protecting their female student body takes a back seat to the school's image.
"Now, the Governor of Virginia is calling on the University to thoroughly investigate the fraternity." Um, a little like the fox guarding the henhouse, no? I'm thinking more like FBI or another police entity.
That's nice of you to say, but pretty reductive. I don't think that's the case.
I feel like everyone has gone crazy. Her "friends" didn't care about her at all and to argue that they were anything but horrible people acting horribly in this situation is insane. Not only did the prioritize their own social lives over Jackies LIFE, they dropped her after they knew she was raped and didn't even…
"And if somebody in a bar, or on the street, etc., grabbed me and forcibly kissed me, I'd call it assault in a heartbeat. But if someone who I was on a double date with did it, I'd slap the hell out of them. But I would hesitate to call it assault."
This is definitely assault. It's unwanted physical contact. That's what assault is. In fact, because it was unwanted sexual contact, it's sexual assault. It isn't that complicated.
So, you can believe that a woman was punched in the face, gang-raped for three hours, but not that the rapists were said some shitty things, too? Really.
That completely blew my mind, that article was hard to read. The Greek system is toxic and needs to go.
This part really jumps out at me:
"Setting aside for a moment the absurdity of a school offering to handle the investigation and adjudication of a felony sex crime – something Title IX requires, but which no university on Earth is equipped to do"
I have never encountered a college Public Safety squad or university…
I'm not attacking, I'm just shedding light on why others are. It's because we've heard this shit before. Even couched in qualifiers, it's upsetting. You have some doubts about the veracity of the quotes. OK. You've been heard. Now drop it and stop arguing with people who are pointing out that, firstly, they aren't as…
The entiiiiiiiiire Rolling Stone piece is about the fact that giving a young, traumatized victim three "equal" choices and no guidance on how to choose is a very bad way to ensure justice for her or accountability for her alleged assailants. From Erdley:
LOL. You'd call her a liar to her face because you're too obtuse to entertain the notion that people really are that horrible about rape. Alrighty.
I have, with my own ears, heard something similar said to a female rape victim because her rapist was "hot" and "popular". That doesn't make it true, of course. However, it is sadly plausible. (At least in the early 90s) (No, my friend didn't report the rape because she was afraid other people would think the same way…
Gangs for rich kids.
A rape survivor was told by the campus police on my campus not to report because she had been drinking and so no one would believe her. We are currently under investigation by the DOE as well. Another girl was just raped this semester at a sorority house and it was hushed up. Even by the sorority sisters because they…
