It's not common amongst my friends or family. I think people let this stuff become the norm because secretly they want it for themselves in the future. Also, how hard is it for a bride to say "no" to multiple showers/parties. In life, not everyone gets to attend everything and that's OK.

All this. But I also see "we're/they're pregnant" as stating that the man is equally responsible for the pregnancy. It wasn't that long ago that (and for some still is) that people saw not getting pregnant, being pregnant, and raising children as solely a woman's job. I think J-Lo's dress was a stunt as well. Just less obvious.

Eh, McGowen pulled a similar stunt before J-Lo (although not classy like Rihanna):

Exactly.

I both LOVE this dress and think it's fug- courtesy of Stephanie Seymour in GnR's November Rain:

Whoa. That's hideous.

Is it meant to confuse the groom?

While this probably won't end up the ugliest it's still pretty fug:

Yeah, the 2 times I was called for jury duty in the last decade (I was not ultimately picked) the judges made a point of saying that kind of CSI evidence rarely appears in cases and that most cases are decided on the reliability of those involved. They went on to say, it was our job to decide based on who was credible
