I think that's hard to judge at this point. Kids don't like things that are difficult and frustrate them. It doesn't mean that it's not an effective teaching method. I responded to another commenter that when I was in high school I had a math class that employed a new teaching method that all the students hated. It

I don't see what you are referring to - where's 6.3? Is it the first picture in this article? Because if it's that one, no, I didn't. I read it as question #3 - 6 students. The questions make sense to me even if the formatting is a little bad. Telling a kid the formatting is off is not hard to do.

But saying that it's bad because it is unfamiliar to you, the parent, is kind of ridiculous. Your kids are the ones who are supposed to be doing their homework, not you. So if it takes you a 10 minutes to understand their homework, so what? Also, the tip about Google wasn't meant to be snide - again if you aren't

I had a high school math class (Algebra 2) that was taught using some brand new teaching method at the time (that was sort of like this - it was meant for you to understand all the pieces and not just memorize things). My classmates and I hated it. HATED it. We bitched and moaned constantly. We complained to any adult

It's a fairly standard human reaction when confronted with something unfamiliar to get frustrated and shut down. I have a feeling that a lot of parents look at problems like these and just go "What the hell?! Too hard!" And then the kid internalizes that idea that the problems are too hard even though they have been

Kids take on their parents' emotions pretty quickly, so if a parent is confused and frustrated the kids is going to assume that the math problem is too hard to figure out even if the kid has completed these types of math problems before.

The problems up above though are pretty easy to figure out as an adult - you don't need to have been taught through common core to understand that they are learning about multiples of 3. And there is Google if you haven't ever made a pictograph. But really, the teacher should have gone over these things in class

Yeah, I didn't see these math problems as out of line. In fact I did similar problems at that age and that was 25 years ago. It seemed fairly obvious to me what they were trying to get the kids to understand. Maybe the problem is that a lot of parents have terrible basic math skills?

I told him this but he ignored myself and others. They are not traditional Easter candy anywhere. They are a traditional Italian wedding favor.

I think some of that comes out of the Hollywood faux spirituality that people like Lindsay display. "I did it with a Shaman" is her way of saying it was meaningful and not just drug use. So to her it isn't casual because it's spiritual. I think that's total BS but I've heard other people talk about drugs like that the

Lindsay is an addict, I could see her feeling desperate for something to help. But I can also see her thinking it would be cool and doing it without an understanding. I doubt most addicts give a lot of thought about the potential negative side effects of a hallucinogen or the fact that the drug is illegal.

Someone already corrected me on this.

Right?! Do these people not know plastic is the way to go for raw meat?

It's a civil suit so statute of limitations does not apply.

It's looks like it's a civil lawsuit so there's no chance at criminal conviction.

Dude. How can you not include Mars Bar or 5th Avenue?! Also, dark chocolate Milky Ways are awesome. THIS LIST DOESN'T BEGIN TO COVER GOOD CANDY BARS!!!

Looks good but gives your partner road rash on her face when you make out.

Sometimes it takes me 10 minutes or so to realize why everything sucks so bad all of a sudden. And then I think "When did I last eat? 6 hours ago? Oh, I'm just hangry."

Yes, being tired and/or hungry is terrible for having a calm discussion. I think the common thing in those two, at least for me, is that I have no patience and everything annoys me when I'm tired or hungry.
