Am I the only one shocked but not really shocked that the one time we actually have a police chief decrying the shooting and saying justice will be served it’s when it was a female officer doing the shooting?

Agreed. I cringe so much sometimes listening to her interviews. It’s just uncomfortable.
Same! 1) She takes approximately 13 minutes to ask a question 2) She asks her interviewees what are clearly extremely personal and uncomfortable questions, and often doesn’t get the hint to stop 3) She’s had this job 40 years, please let someone newer and better qualified give it a try!
I know I am in the minority here, but I’m not a huge fan of Terry Gross. I can’t really put my finger on it - - but she seems, um, just really, um, scatterbrained or um, not really prepared for her um, interviews.
“Hi, welcome to Fresh Air. I’m Terry Gross. You may know Jesus of Nazareth from his kicking the moneylenders out of the temple or possibly from his biographical anthology, The Bible. Jesus, welcome to the program.”
Right? I know that he’s kind of stiff but I can always, ALWAYS appreciate someone who can laugh at themselves. Good job, Jeb!
i wouldnt put carrie, nancy or pam on this list. we very rarely see carrie eating, nancy seemed to survive solely on diet coke and iced coffee and pam was pretty ‘normal’ and we didnt see her eat a ton
I’m pretty sure that shorter guy is already taken by a taller guy.
But people do that with people!
I wonder sometimes about our (western) relationship to animals and the extreme anthropomorphism that we put into it. The moment is important for us, so we drag and prop them into our moment because it’s so important to us. How about them? I wish we could gauge what they want and feel. We may love them too much for…
Reese Witherspoon isn’t cool enough to be at a Beyonce show, so that’s fine.
a) Criticizing someone for appropriating Harajuku is silly, because Harajuku itself borrows from non-Japanese cultures.
I think it’s at least fair to argue whether there is a qualitative difference between protesting during the anthem when playing for your club team and protesting during the anthem while playing for your national team.
He sounds like a real shit. However, if he can prove he was treated differently because of his race, he has a valid case.
Legal wise it seems like a solid argument if he can prove it. At least from what I’ve read about wrongful termination law suits.
This wasn’t a joke about power dynamics. This was an insult to his appearance, and he didn’t appear to have done anything to deserve it. This isn’t some sort of feminist stand she’s taking. This is just a mean-spirited “joke” at the expense of someone who was just trying to do his job. It’s inappropriate in either…
I get the idea that punching up is better than punching down. However, you’re really saying it’s okay to fat shame a dude, who is probably very insecure about his weight, by telling him he completely undesirable just because women get that kind of thing much more than men? That seems bizarre.
Maybe, but I don’t think it’s particularly appropriate to directly insult the appearance of anyone who is just trying to promote their movie. It’s shitty either way, and he did nothing to deserve it.
Can’t help but feel the response to this “joke” would be less positive had the genders been reversed.
