Yes and no. I agree that George was trying to gently sway the conversation. But there is an important point here. Every example of Oscar snubs this year are men of color. No women. On sites that predict/rank potential Oscar nominees, no women of color even made the top 40 odds. That’s how bad this year was. So as bad

I agree with those exceptions. And since Gravity is basically a two-person movie, him and Sandra Bullock, I’m going add that to the list as well. In truth, his role could’ve been played by someone of color.

I agree that Lawrence elevated Joy tremendously so I don’t have a problem with her being nominated. But do you know who else elevated a mediocre movie into something better? Will Smith in Concussion. I guess it says more about the depth of good roles for women vs men that Lawrence can get in for a mediocre movie but

Couldn’t agree more. Additionally (and maybe I’m in the minority on this), but wouldn’t it be weird if his ex-wife is in the house and viewers see no acknowledgement or reaction to Bowie’s death? It’s her choice to remain in the house, so I have no issue with them airing this footage.

As it turns out, winning a Golden Globe has nothing to do with Gaga’s acting ability either.

I was surprised how much I liked The Revenant, but it’s a directorial/cinematography triumph more than anything. My biggest issue is how can Leo be the best actor of the year when he’s not even the best actor in his own movie (Tom Hardy)? Leo should’ve won for Gilbert Grape, but everything he’s done in the last 12

I think it’s to be expected that this would arise when a Clinton is running for office. It’s not much different than Mia Farrow bringing up Woody Allen’s past actions when a movie of his is a major awards contender (Midnight in Paris, Blue Jasmine). People who have been wronged, abused, and victimized understandably

Two things:

Even if only women ran the production side of things, I don’t think they’d be hiring Melanie Griffith for projects. Dakota Johnson has a great point in the broad sense but using her mother as an example almost completely derailed it.

I thought Concussion was a mostly a bore, but I thought Will Smith was exceptional in it and elevated the material. It’s a long shot, but I think he would be so deserving to get in this year.

That makes me kind of sad. They’re all great actors.

I guess I’m only thinking of a film that actually has a legit shot of being nominated. There’s no reason Straight Outta Compton should be excluded if The Martian and Force Awakens or even Max Max are on the list. And you’re right, Creed is great too and has a small, outside chance of being nominated. I liked

Even if the actor’s branch doesn’t nominate anyone of color, the Academy as a whole better at least nominate Straight Outta Compton for Best Picture or they will look as old, out of touch and racist as everyone thinks they are.

Hmmm...I disagree. Sure, he’s not as hot as his brothers, but he’s still pretty damn hot. The genetics in that family is off the charts.

This recipe was approved by Hillary’s abuela.

Based on the link in the article, this isn’t ESPN’s fault. They’re not thrilled about New Years Eve games either. It’s the playoff officials’ idiotic decision. ESPN had no choice but to make the best out of a terrible idea.

Wow. I was expecting a lot more based on the headline. Mia really needs to work on her shade game.

I’d pick Venus at Wimbledon over most of those names, although it’s tough to pick against Navratilova there, Graf too. US Open and Australian Open, I wouldn’t feel confident picking Venus or the other names, I’d call it a toss-up. And French Open, I’d pick everyone over Venus. It’s not that Venus is terrible, it’s

Even in her prime, Venus couldn’t win on clay. She only had 1 French Open Final appearance. When one surface is that much of a weakness, it’s hard to place someone #2 when other players have been much more successful on all surfaces. Venus would probably make the top 10. I put her in the category of Seles and Henin,

I can’t get behind Chobani but damn I love Greek yogurt. It’s a great post-workout snack. Way higher in protein, lower in fat, less sour and soupy than regular yogurt. What’s not to love? (other than, yes I know, the wasteful straining process is probably terrible for the environment.)
