I think you’re technically correct ( the best kind of correct) about the overall decrease, as violent crimes in general have declined significantly since then. However, I think the reporting of these incidents is more widespread and immediate that it simply feels like they happen more often.

There was once a fake bomb threat at my high-school. No one was really concerned about it, but I called my parents and told them I was afraid just so I could ditch school with an excused absence*. My parents believed me though because it was all too plausible a story.

Cue the Conspiracy theories in 3...2...1

“wtf” is the correct and only response to that tweet.

I once tried to use my mom’s old-school douching thing (bag?) when I was pretend playing doctor* with a friend. I thought it was like a heating pad. Oops! My mom was mortified.

since this is a pissing contest after all I’m going to one-up you.*

My God, why would you want to go through the election season again? Nightmare or not, I’m pushing through until it’s finally over

Anyone who refers to Times Square as the #Bestplaceever should be given extra screening by the TSA. The full pat down, the hand swabby thing, drug sniffing dogs, all of the things. Only criminals and monsters could think of TS as a fun place to hang in NYC. It’s science.

oh I see. Thanks for clearing that up for me. Now I feel totally justified in the belief that cinemark is both cruel and kind of stupid.

Has there been confirmation that Cinemark is going to pursue this? The judge ordered that cinemark wasn’t liable for the charges, but I’m wondering if the company can opt out of seeking reimbursement. That would be the smart move imo.

I could be wrong, but I would bet that the judge would have treated this case more seriously if the woman he abducted had been a stranger rather then his ex-wife.

I was upset over Rose’s departure, but I was DEVASTATED by the way they ended Donna’s story.

DoctorDonna4Lyfe But the Ponds were great too :)

in her own words, “the great orange hope.”

We really need good laws that properly address harassment online, and good law enforcement that actually knows how to use a computer and doesn’t just ignore pleas for help from the victims. We need to start taking this seriously.

I’m still perma-grey. This has been a difficult day for me. sigh.

This is sort of off topic, but I’m friendly with a number of staff members in my building and one of them told me recently that another resident complained about me spending too much time in the lobby because she assumed I didn’t live in the building, that I was just riff raff. The only explanation I can come up with
