Yeah I was really bummed by the change in creative team....DC is trying very hard to merge their TV and Comics world....despite the fact there already is a comic on the Arrow TV series....

I don't think he is...I think/hope it's just sort of to emphasis the brutality of the fight. Sort of like in a prison movie where the camera pans away when one of the inmates is getting cornered by the others.....it implies something very sinister
