Ecoboost mustang with performance pack tips the scales at 3500 lbs. I’m sure Mazda could shave a few hundred pounds out of that. For reference the previous gen Mazda 2 and Ford Fiesta were the same chassis, but the 2 was about 150lbs lighter iirc.

Ford is canabalizing the ST sub brand with an automatic only crossover while discontinuing both the Focus and Fiesta STs.
Well I guess we’ll see if gas hits north of $5 a gallon.
Your entire statement is true, on flat land at sea level. The minute these SUVs and trucks are forced to move their extra bulk up for extended periods of time it turns into a significant disadvantage in terms of fuel economy. We’ve seen the “fuel efficient” truck and SUV return significantly worse mileage. Physics…
Ok let’s look at this, a 10 year old truck with almost 150k on the clock. No bank will finance this, which means you need to have 14.5k laying around to buy it. That’s a sizeable down payment on a usable truck (if that’s what you need) that could still have a factory warranty. Hell you could find a 2013 Mustang Boss…
You’d be partly correct on your assessment. Realistically it’s going to depend on the thermal efficiency of the engines in question. Since were talking arbitrary numbers, let’s say it requires 100 horsepower to maintain the test speed of 75 mph in the silverado, given the gear ratios, aerodynamic drag, and approximate…
But you conversely have a lot less rotating mass in a 4 cylinder when compared to a v8. Which means that on light throttle application, or at idle the 4 cylinder should be more efficient at maintianing low rpms at low loads.
Idk, I love Fords and I love Mazdas. My insanely unattainable custom dream car is a ‘69 mustang with a 13b-rew under the hood
Use the phrase “teeth in their heads”... it... has more gravitas.
In other news a BMW spokesperson has denied that the genesis G70 has had any impact on what BMW is willing to offer in its cars.
I’m also a fan of the diesel rotary... even if it never made it to mass production.
Am I the only one who feels cheated?
So you decided to announce to the world that you have next to no knowledge on Diesel engines. Why exactly?
50k for 335 hp? Meh. I think it looks great though. Even if it had the output of the Z4 it’s still a bad dollar/horsepower proposition, Toyota will build it for 2-3 years, realize that people aren’t buying as many Supras as RAV4s and then discontinue it to revive it as a crossover in a decade.
COTD
I think pre face lift lights look better.
You realize the Ecosport is based off the fiesta platform and the escape is based off the focus platform, yes?
It’s really bad compared to the SS. In comparison, it is similarly price but severely underpowered. Sure the interior looks nicer, but at that price it’s really hard to shrug off 100 horsepower for the sake of having a Toyota.
I see we now call installing a hood a trunk and rims “building a car”.
(That’s because half tons will do anything 99.9% of truck buyers need, but the big 3 can make more money by selling 3/4 tons and one tons so that someone can pull a camper once a year)
