that movie was a goldmine for gun-enthusiasts, too. Between the hand-loading rifle rounds in the first scene, to the shooting range bit (and surprise Duvall cameo!) 2/3rds of the way thru… it was a few wonderful bits of authenticity that McQuarrie brings to his pictures.
Jack Reacher is a masterpiece, how dare you. Especially in comparison to its DOA sequel.

i'm sure the failure (modest or grand) or Ghostbusters has scared Sony off forcing more "should be dead" square-peg ideas into a round hole.
i read his books in the early 90s, back when i had that kinda time. I totally agree - i'm sure they haven't aged well, and modern (post-internet, post-TED) audiences can see the hackery.
