Ned Beatty's senator character sums up the movie's ethos with the line "There is always a poor misguided soul, who believes *one man* can make a difference. And you gotta *kill* him to convince him otherwise. That's the *hassle* with Democracy!"

the best line in the movie is Ned Beatty's "There is always a poor misguided soul, who believes *one man* can make a difference. And you gotta *kill* him to convince him otherwise. That's the *hassle* with Democracy!"

I asked Bill Burr this question on Twitter (after a bit on his podcast), and he replied with "Do It To Me One More TIme" by Capn & Tennille. That's…strangely perfect.

the instrumental outro of "Suite Madame Blue" by Styx - the organ playing the high note, followed by massive guitar riffs, and "AAAAMEERRRICAAAAA" as my face is superimposed over a waving flag. (I assume i'm a closer in baseball, and have 60 seconds or more)

Anthony Jeselnik stated in interviews (possibly with AV Club) that he would trade everything for his dream job of Weekend Update. And, he would make it worth watching, and give it the teeth it hasn't had since….Norm & Spade? Dennis Miller?

yeah, but did he *Write* it? Writing credit on songs always seems to be the most valuable chit.

Ponderoooosa pine!

what, no "Paint Your Wagon"? The songs from the frame around the song-clip show weren't terrible. Also: Apu had his "Who Needs the Kwik-E Mart," and someone can do "Lisa, It's your Birthday", right? Or does MJ's estate need $$$ for that one?

who will sing the Troy McClure songs?! I want a full report after this goes down.

you mean other than Mookie Blaylock, of course.

it's almost as surprising as seeing Stephen Sommers and Joel Schumacher doing DTV movies. I actually liked Odd Thomas, didn't even realize it was Sommers's work. Apparently he spent the years after GI Joe in director's jail…

hey, i respect the hell outta both of them. Spottiswoode also did Shoot To Kill, one of the better Lethal Weapon/48hrs ripoff movies. And the Band Played On was well done, too.

i woulda sworn Roger Donaldson directed Tomorrow Never Dies, but alas, it's fellow journeyman director Roger Spottiswoode. Are we sure they're not the same guy?

not to disagree with the lede, but i think she's suing them for showing her Naked while dating.

it certainly sparked the divide between the former partners. even years later, jackman is asking bale "you don't remember?!?" I'd say it was more than just window dressing.

and Jean Grey was ostensibly the villian of X-Men 3. And if we're counting Trinity or Lois Lane, they'd have to be killed - and then Neo/Supes goes on a tirade they'd otherwise been resisting.

also: the Pitch Black clip portrays a woman dying at the last moment of the movie - it's not motivation for the main character's actions. ALso, X3- Jean Grey dying (at Wolverine's Hands) isn't "Fridging the girlfriend". Superman, Matrix 2 - she's more of a damsel in distress than a Fridged GF.

also, the Koehler actor is also known as Michael Keaton's son, who wants his "woobie", in Mr Mom.
