They did shoot in a real mall. Northland Village in Calgary, Alberta; the mall was closed for a refurbishment at the time. Stuff was added (like the carousel and Victoria’s Secret) and I think the second floor is digital. I applied for a job at the Best Buy you can see in the background several years ago, lol.

I read an interesting article on LOTR the other day (sorry can’t remember the source), that talked about how the male protagonists in the series were great examples of positive masculinity. Aragorn is shown as caring and displays emotions freely. Close friendships and love are represented among the men as normal and

I stopped watching after the plane crash but ended up catching up during Covid. The show is absolutely bonkers and occasionally infuriating, but now that I am caught up, I have started watching regularly again. I can’t explain it. Some sort of subliminal mind control perhaps. I guess it’s just comfortable and

For anyone interested, the plane used in the show was a Canso PBY-5A, rescued from the bottom of a lake in the Canadian Arctic by some farmers in Alberta. A rather cool story, actually:

Ha! My boss says ‘mute point’ too. At least I am in a tech field so his knowledge of idioms is not crucial, but we were in a meeting with a vendor so I couldn’t say anything.

I do wonder what the circumstance of him not being allowed to be left alone with Michelle Trachtenburg were though. That is a pretty serious rule to have for a showrunner. The level of cruelty must have been pretty high. There is also the Ray Fisher stuff which nobody seems to bring up and is much more recent.

I’m also willing to extend my imagination a bit for a scene in a tv show if it meant that the actor would feel more comfortable.

Bravo, have a star.

The only radio station I could get in my hometown was country along with a CBC talk station (I actually think that is still the case). I found Alanis Morrissette when I slept over at my cousin’s house and saw her on MuchMusic (they had satellite TV). Thanks CanCon!

As a person with ADHD, a dishwasher is the MOST critical appliance in my house. I would end up eating off paper towel or over the sink rather than handwash on a bad day. At least the dishwasher gives me a horde of clean dishes to scrounge from, assuming I remembered to fill it on a good day.

Nah, you are getting to the best stuff now.

Just my two bits:

Yeah, I’m not sure what the technical definition of a sitcom is, but it does stand for Situational Comedy. The Schitt family end up in a funny situation (for the audience) and have to dig themselves out of it. I freaking love that show because it doesn’t beat you over the head with jokes all the time. It can certainly

ANTS!

My junior high/high school years fell smack in between Degrassi High and TNG so I watched original reruns on CBC and caught a few of the new episodes in university. I remember showing it to my American roommate, who hadn’t seen any of it and she was blown away at what was ‘allowed’ on Canadian TV.

I learned Quebec French in school and while I am a long long way from fluent, I know enough to get a hotel or order at a restaurant. When I was in France I got some very funny looks from local folks for my apparently very odd vocabulary. I have heard the difference is equivalent to European vs Brazilian Portuguese.

Or introduce Cara’s sister Sera Dune. Similar appearance and life experience because... sisters! Maybe Cara got blown up and Sera wants revenge.

As a side note, it drives me nuts when these post-apocalyptic shows ignore the rest of the world. I guess we know that Israel exists and Russia had a coup of some sort but I would love to know how a place like Saudi Arabia or Afghanistan turned out after all the men died, even just in a few passing remarks.

I worked as a camera operator for a small aerial imagery company. They ran three planes; a Piper jet prop, a Piper Navajo and a Cessna 206. The guy who flew the jet prop was co-owner of the company and the the other two pilots worked as employees but also owned small Cessnas of their own. These guys were solidly

I started reading the series in 8th grade when A Crown of Swords came out. A Memory of Light came out when I was 30. I stopped reading at Crossroads of Twilight, but decided to give it another go once the final book was released but did audiobooks instead. There are two narrators (readers?) for the series, one for the
