@BadJoJo: I dunno about that... It looks like he has a DirecTV receiver and Im not sure if they have RF... I know my HD DVR is all IR, and that would render this hack pretty well useless.

@shooga: I dont doubt that you can see the beam in "thin air". It should be powerful enough for what little mass there is (water vapor, gas particles) to reflect the light creating a beam...
