I think this one was fair game. She did a good job articulating how annoying this weird Urban Folk garbage is.

A lot of their fans go to "cool" churches, too.

Oh man, fuck whoever named their band Of Mice and Men. Blurg.

Yeah, I went to UCSB (where he went) and it was inescapable. It's pleasant enough, and I don't think his music is quite as fake and annoying as the Lumineers and co. (thankfully he doesn't dress up in suspenders or some shit), but it really is wedding slideshow music.

Dude, the barn wedding thing is so true. There will be craft cupcakes, kids holding sparklers, expensive cowboy boots and those triangular bunting banners.

Hmm… I don't remember any single song standing out in particular. The earnestness and Christian rock hairdos just wigged me out.

It's not even that I don't like their newest albums. I think they're decent (as in I like them, just not as much as the first two); it just seems like the fans they're attracting are getting so irritating. The whole gimmick with the concert dress code was annoying, too.

Especially given that the markup is absurd for these items. You could buy basically the same look at Target for 1/4.

I didn't like Edward Sharpe but his stuff with his band didn't grate on me as much as any of its copycats do.

Haha, he can move to NYC and do duets with Marnie. Marnie will try and sleep with him, and Hannah and Richie will find out and get mad. A trip to a beach house/forest retreat for forced bonding will ensue.

Oh for sure. I can totally relate to that… I'm in a very similar position! Not complaining, just saying I think people who act like Richie is aimless and Patrick is some go-getter are a bit off.

Yep, "Enlightened" was great, and I don't want "Looking" to suffer the same fate!

BUT DID IT GO VIRAL?

They slam the door whenever Patrick shows up.

Is it unfair to anyone else that "Looking" is a much more interesting/complete show than "Togetherness," and it's still waiting for a renewal notice? I think "Togetherness" is fine, but I see much more discussion being generated by "Looking." What are the odds "Looking" gets a third season? I feel like I'm thinking

I would love that!

Dude, yes. On all counts.

Yeah, my sister was a BIG Hoobastank fan. (The name of the band alone makes me feel angry.) All of her musical taste is Hatesong-worthy. I think if I had to write one of these, I'd do it about Switchfoot, her favorite band when she was in high school.

It's kind of funny how soon we all forgot about CancerAids.

Ugh, but it is for a certain subset of people. My boyfriend works with really dull late 30-something accountants with kids who think they're totally cool for spending $80 a pop on tickets to see Mumford & Sons at some crappy amphitheater.
