I agree with this, but I know I lack the long term discipline to keep it paid off if I have the option of not doing so. I'm definitely better at that sort of thing now than I used to be, but still. I know the amex is not the right deal financially, but I also know it forces me to maintain better financial discipline

It's a charge card. From one of their websites: "Unlike Debit and Credit Cards, with an American Express Charge Card you can enjoy no pre-set spending limit and you must repay your full balance at the end of each month giving you total control over your expenses."

Gotcha. If you swap "debit card" with "amex" which isn't a credit card, we're pretty much in the same boat. Personally I feel both very fortunate that I'm not in a financial situation where I'd need to rely on credit to get by and proud for not letting myself getting into that kind of situation.

Just curious. How do you rent a car? Buy an airplane ticket, reserve a room at a hotel, etc. There are number of ways a credit card comes in handy. I like your sentiment (don't pay unless you have the money) but I wonder how you get buy (seriously wonder, not trolling).

I know it probably doesn't make great financial sense, but I love my Platinum Amex. The primary reason (that I could get with cheaper Amex cards) is that I pay it off every month. It's my only credit card (other than the ones I've paid off, but not canceled), so I don't have any credit card debt (as of this Friday,

I guess me too. I immediately heard her song in my head, not The Band. :)

Jimmy Kimmel approves this unnecessary censorship. :)

I'm very close to being debt free. Once I sell my house (in a couple weeks) I'll have enough to pay off the last bit of a student loan I have and I'm free and clear. Like you, I've adopted an "if I can't pay cash, I can't afford it" policy.

Just saw this on Strangebeaver (SFW) and immediately thought of this thread. Too funny.

Maybe I'm too cynical, but my first thought is to wonder how much of this is driven by getting attention vs the story itself. How much would this story have changed had he been found guilty?

Convinced rapist? typo or some kind of funky auto-correct?

Right, but it's not a strong lock, like the welding trick mentioned above. The rubber cement remains flexible, allowing for a limited amount of slip. I heard it works great.

I found if you put rubber cement in there, you end up with a limited slip diff. I was surprised to find that it works, but my brothers best friends cousin is a race car driver and he swears by it.

I have to say, the guys doing the racing showed a lot more class than this "article".

It's because it's so expensive.

My wife's 2014 Forrester has a backup camera. The screen is actually quite small (and yet, still functional). I don't think "massive screen" is a requirement for a backup camera. Where I find them most useful is when parked nose-in (diagonally) on a street. The camera is in the back of the car, so it has a much

Nah, it's an old picture. I didn't think we had to use a "current" picture.

Yeah, it takes work. I interact, but mostly via Skype/IM/phone. You have to go out of your way to hook up with friends, family and coworkers.

ok, officially jealous :) But then I hit that SF traffic and the jealousy falls away, but then I think of the weather, then of the cost of living. Shit, I'm confused.

I work from home and yes, a tech job.
