Much of the plot is dependent on a little old man named the Jeweler who lives in the sewer and has a big nose and says things like “I can smell a diamond a mile away!”

I mean, yeah, but they don’t expect it to be an outright lie, either. I have a friend who I describe as “a very smart gullible person” who was telling me “and after a MONTH the doctor said he was going to DIE of McDonald’s!” and I’m saying...no, Carol, you won’t die from a month of eating McD’s. You won’t. (Spec on

Parsons himself has more paunch and less hair than I was expecting.  (I mean, so do I.)

People have been complaining about that for a literal century (I have a copy of the early 1920's edition of Fowler’s English Usage and it’s in there.)  And everybody thinks “people today just don’t know how the language works.”

In case I never get to mention him again: is it just me, or does he look like a black Pete Davidson?

I forget which sketch, but I saw Sarah Sherman in a blonde wig and literally thought it was Margot Robbie in a cameo which of course would have made perfect sense.

Yeah, and I’ve heard that a fair amount of the “breaking” on Carol Burnett weren’t spontaneous either.

Early in Confessions of a Shopaholic, she does the most fantastic and committed “Look!  Behind you!” distraction gag I’ve ever seen in my life.

Well, the Beatles got some shit, but they were hardly “cancelled”.

Everybody that I know who is elderly, who is retired, is dead within five years”

Health is such a fucking lottery.

I just watched it and it’s so deliberately old-seeming that the ratings card is from decades ago. It’s a hoot.

It’s the new House/Senate that’s involved there, which looks likely right now to be a “The Lord giveth, the Lord taketh away” situation come January.  That is, D House R Senate.

And now it ties in with a completely separate (logically, at least) irrationality where some people insist they HAVE to 100% a game and then they complain that it’s too hard/annoying to do that. So...don’t?

“Security theater” is generally credited to Bruce Schneier.

And if bags were screened before entry, you could just bomb that screening line.

Catastrophe has a nice one, where you think you’ve jumped forward a few months to the birth of a baby, but it turns out to be a multi-year jump ahead to their second baby.

The Jane the Virgin time skip also causes questions for the episodes having to do with immigration policy, because you have to decide (in your head) if the previous episodes were set 4 years go or if the new episodes are set 4 years in the future.
