I have literally never heard “If worst were to come to worst” in my life, and I mean literally-literally, so I’m not going to accept this one.

The problem here is that “First come”, by itself, isn’t really grammatical, so it’s hard to reason about what “matches” it.

What makes very little sense there is that they had 8 draws, I think, before they broke the streak with a loss. So after the streak they’ve gone 4-4-6, which is still an insane number of draws.

Agreed...so why is half the article quoting people who think customers are trying to get out of bagging their groceries? (This is two questions: why do people think this gets you out of bagging your groceries, and how did the author of current article not notice that it makes no goddamn sense?)

“Protected rights are a thing!”

Look, if the bill were against crime, it would be called the Anti-Crime Bill. I wasn’t born yesterday.

I was just thinking that “banished him to an alternate timeline” means “solved nothing, but did make it somebody else’s problem.”

The “also known for...Married with Children” buried way the end seems odd too, but she has certainly had a legit career since then. (Samantha Who? isn’t even mentioned!)

Suddenly 2021 can’t end fast enough.”

I saw a graph a few years ago of which specialties are more or less conservative.  The two most liberal ones were pediatrics and pulmonology, a fact that I happily shared with one of my best friends from college, who is a pediatric pulmonologist.

Somebody else has a line “Peacemaker...what a joke”. I’m pretty sure that’s there for the reason you imply.

Vader was really good at, as they say, managing up.

Oh God. Imagine the publicity shots of a tall person and a little person, vaguely labeled Roark and Tattoo, and then the show premieres and...well, not this time around, I guess.

Deep cut!

Season-wise, the promo card for next week’s episode indicates Christmas; some time might well pass before then, though.

And to make it more confusing, the word “tie” is used over there, but it means something else; a “cup tie” is the matchup between two teams for a tournament such as the FA Cup.

Characters now recur so infrequently that I think I remember that someone called Gemma was on, and learned in the review here that she had been seen before, but I had no actual memory of her.  And I’m not sure who she is.  Had an accent maybe?

Those two ideas are in conflict, as part of the reason to give yourself a second job is to get a second paycheck.

There’s a whole (sorry) SNL sketch about this, tied to the movies Holes.
