HOW would the area of Guam, Hawaii and Alaska change the center calculation? The center is the... let’s call it “equidistance”... between all the outlying points. It’s not weighted by areas.
Yeah, well, for that matter, people IN the Midwest don’t consider anything east of the Mississippi river to be in the Midwest. Oklahoma fits ok, perhaps, but north of Iowa and Nebraska is ‘iffy’. (It USED to be ‘Big Ten’ country, but that is way long gone.)
