The stupid girlfriend is the nicest character in the movie and she delivers the movie’s central theme. She also is the only character in the movie who is genuinely a good person and doing good things. She works with animals and the disabled.

The town does not have a reputation for white officer brutalizing black citizens. Rockwell was accused of torturing a black subject. A thing he repeatedly denies throughout the movie. Including insisting that the correct term “PoC” be used AND stating that he wouldn’t torture PoC because “his Momma wouldn’t like that.”

He plays up the asshole character but then doesn’t draw a line between “character” and “actor” and uses things from his real life to defend the actions taken by his character. And note how very specific this “impulsive” behavior is. He’s not having fits. He’s not having outbursts. He’s ONLY having this impulsive behavior toward women. And the ONLY impulsive behavior he’s displaying is cornering women so he can be sexually predatory.

Most people with traumatic brain injuries who can’t control their behavior aren’t savvy enough to corner someone in an isolated hallway with no witnesses and proceed to make repeated sexually aggressive overtures that they lie about later.
