I’m 5’7” and the wee-strom worked for me, but It wasn’t my first bike. If it were, maybe I would have wanted to be a little more plant footed and for the handlebar to have a bit of a closer reach, which could be done with bar risers. Good luck.

And if you want a smaller/less powerfuul/lighter bike, a KTM Duke 390, because upright riding position and it’s a fun little thumper. 

If you’re 5’9” or taller, a Vstrom 650 would be a perfect first bike in which you can also grow in. You should look for a bike with an upright riding position. Don’t go to the crouched nor slouched machines until you get some experience.
