I find it staggering that there are several U.S. Army installations named after Confederate generals.  People who fought against the U.S. Army!  Fort Lee, Fort Gordon, Fort Hood...Fort Bragg, named after a general who was not only a Confederate, he was also hugely incompetent.  Although maybe that one makes more sense…

The best scenery is off the highways.  There’s some good scenery on highways, especially in the west--I-70 through the San Rafael Swell, I-70 through the Colorado Rockies, I-80 through the Sierras--but the best scenery is off the highways.  Interstate 80 is nice, but Highway 50 over the Sierras to Tahoe...or the other…
