The whole John Wayne thing was hilarious. People couldn’t find enough to get outraged about, so they start throwing around this magazine interview from 1971.
>we saw much of the content in which we took comfort stripped for parts by venture capitalists and corporate demigods.
>>And then The Tudors, similarly, that was like, “Who’s going to watch this series about Henry VII?”
Meh. Series was pretty funny for quite a while but went downhill pretty badly near the end, just wasn’t the same after Clementine and Garcia were written out.
Chances that “Knives Out” gets a Best Picture nod?
Oh sure, the marketing of Tickle Me Elmo was a huge factor.
There’s an unfortunate effect in which incels and sexist creeps being against something makes it difficult to note when something truly is bad. Leslie Jones gets harassed by awful sexist creeps, and it makes it uncomfortable to note that she’s one of the worst sketch performers in SNL history. Awful sexist creeps…
He might have been able to voice both characters at once.
There was an infamous decision to basically dumb the show down to appeal to the smallest of children, and Elmo was that vehicle.
“the Brands—that sentient collective of banal Twitter identities sniping back and forth at each other endlessly in in an effort to make us all eat Moon Pies while watching Netflix at a Wendy’s”
...Foot meat?
“You are indeed an asshole if you deny me that opportunity.”
Spoiler police are the worst people in the world. I read the TV Tropes forums sometimes and there were some morons on there recently suggesting that the plot points in “Huckleberry Finn” should be concealed on its pages. Driveling idiots.
“Bombshell gingerly dances around its heroines’ more noxious political viewpoints”
This is a bad opinion, but someone could make a good movie about some “Property Brothers” style show where the hosts were deranged serial killers≥
It’s his old pal Marty, he’d be cool with it.
I just saw “Knives Out” today and I think I’ll be rooting for it. It’s terrific.
Just think how angry all the Marvel fans will be if “The Irishman” wins Best Picture. :)
The only thing I could think about when looking down this “films the AV Club didn’t review” list was how many Great Job, Internet articles have run this year.
