That was my bad. I just watched a video about Mercedes’ “double DRS”, and they show it being used in a corner in qualifying. I just had assumed it was a race.

F1 has been unwatchable since they put the engine behind the driver and started using harnesses.

Before, when DRS could be used whenever and wherever, it did need bravery. Deploying DRS would lose rear downforce and unsettle the rear but not the front. Using it in a corner was sketchy, but people tried it.

I don’t think the French had any concept of what cars were like outside their borders at this time. Now that they are aware, we don’t get things like this.
