I would argue that the fact that it has the ability to get <20 mpg is a flaw regardless of the testing process. Hybrids have shown that for decades you can get excellent economy even in the worst stop-go conditions. This is just proof that ICE-only is stupid for a delivery vehicle in this day and age.

The professionals note “This vessel had major issues, Class and Flag was pulled years ago. Shows you how things operate over there, or lack of oversight.”

Well, now I just know that you don’t understand how A/C works in a car.

You can pile this and every other USPS problem at the feet of Trump appointee Louis Dejoy.

Does this use the Honeywell AGT1500 from the M1A1? I think that would cause the MPG to dip down to the 8 range. The ~4000 lb-ft of torque @ 1000RPM would definitely help get that mail truck rolling from a stop at every mailbox!

because a Republcan Trump appointee is runnng the USPS and everything is broken and awful in the hellscape known as the United States.

The chevrolet/brightdrop EV600 deliery van has 250 miles of electric range, recessed sliding doors and meets most of the postal specs out of the box. And it’s already developed and just started production.

I’m still confused why these aren’t hybrids. Mail delivery is a perfect use case for regenerative braking.

This deal was worked and approved by the Trump admin’s USPS Board and finalized 31 days into the Biden administration.

You can Thank Louis DeJoy for all the crap at the USPS. Why move the production to South Carolina? Make a truck that is crap? You know DeJoy had some say in it.

which begs the question: “Why the hell are these not EVs then?” it’s literally the perfect use case for EVs since idling does not waste energy like it does in an ICE.

Isn’t a postal route almost the perfect use of an electric vehicle, lots of braking, short overall distances for many.

I’ve had luck with the USB (micro, USB-C etc) style endoscopes that plug into your phone. No wireless lag or drop in resolution, but they’re only $20 or so since you’re not paying for the screen, electronics etc that your phone can substitute for. Incredibly tiny to easily make it down spark plug or injector holes,

I went to the same high school as his son and he and my parents are friends... spent some time with him, extremely upstanding guy with nothing but integrity and class. Also took my late grandmother on a “date” to the St. Louis Symphony.

He does consider his cameo in “Pootie Tang” to be one of his worst decisions...

“My other car is a porch” lol.

This is true, I had to specifically contact my insurance and explain to them that the 2009 Honda Odyssey we own isn’t just an Odyssey, it’s a modified van for handicapped people and worth considerably more than a 10yo Odyssey. Being USAA, they were awesome and didn’t even raise my rates or require the inspection to

Why do we constantly GoFundMe for things where people should have insurance covering these sorts of events?

They made it better looking too.  Can’t wait for it to depreciate into my price range.  Though I wish their batteries held up long term better.  Current 3-5 year old leafs are cheap but only have about 50-60 miles of range from what I have seen.

Agree. Back to earlier article on chicken tax protecting the “truck” market for US OEM and also years of “truck” exemptions from safety & fuel economy regulations...GM likes making money.

There once was a man from Nantucket, he had too much baggage to stuff it, with a cargo hold so small he couldn't fit it all, and had to fly commerical and rough it.
