I am a complete Metal Gear Solid die hard, but even I admit the only great Metal gear story is MGS:3 because it is entirely self contained and not encumbered to some lengthy canon.

@WolvenOne: Works of art do not strive to teach people about a specific set of ideas. If you see ideas in it and synthesize them yourself, then okay but that is what *you* are taking away from it. This goes for almost everything, except for maybe philosophical works in the narrative format.

And I'd argue Gameboy Advance games are still the best handheld games to play today. They really got a new lease on Android emulators recently. I know they are all I play on my phone.

I had forgotten that Ninja Theory made such good opening levels. I distinctly remember heavenly Sword opening and being amazed at the then untapped power of the PS3. Definitely the highlight of their two major games was their opening levels.
