This sounds completely not at all like anything that the Russian intelligence services would ever consider doing!  Please don't put any polonium in my soup!

@avclub-64ad8f3af92ef8d9a1c7dfd7265e577d:disqus I'd take the bait, except that I honestly remember so little about Survival that I'd just be arguing based on my undying love for "Rose".  Clearly I need to refresh my memory — I wonder if Survival's on netflix…

Did we already do "Survival"?  Because really: do "Survival" and "Rose" back-to-back, or better yet as one double-length column.

@avclub-64ad8f3af92ef8d9a1c7dfd7265e577d:disqus oh yeah, no argument!  You have to grade the Cartmel era on a pretty aggressive curve due to so much external bullshit: the budgets, Michael Grade's hostility, JNT's obstructive incompetence, Cartmel's inexperience, Bonnie Langford's voice… on and on.
But merely the fact

Say what you will about the plot of TDKR rises, but it at least makes substantially more sense than the plot of the previous movie.

if the ending had gone ahead as planned, we would have lost one of the most emotional Eleven scenes.

The consistent problem with the Cartmel era was that for all that it was in a lot of ways a return to form and a great improvement on the Saward era, Cartmel was, ironically, not very good at the "editing" part of the script editor job: a lot of the stories were padded where they needed to be streamlined, but yet

I tend to give Nicola Bryant a pass: she's a decent enough actress who was giving it her all, but was hampered by a nonstop series of completely shit scripts.  (Really, the exact same problem as with Colin Baker himself.)

Cookie Monster, you are my favorite gimmick poster ever.

Dear Gallagher's heart: a grateful nation thanks you.
