Defund drug addicted mothers: hurts the children

It does make sense. Instead of helping them have sick children, they're helping them to be so sick and malnourished no fetus can survive inside them, so no sick children are born. Everybody wins! /s

I think I speak for a lot of American women when I say, what is this magical land you hail from? Can you pet unicorns there?

I don't think most pregnant drug addicts are otherwise well-loved members of society who spend their evenings preparing nutritious meals.

I agree with the author as much as the next person, but would it be so horrible for Jez to ever cite sources when making arguments? For example, "drug addicts who fear repercussions are less likely to seek prenatal care than those who aren't using drugs" - source for that? It would strengthen your argument

Is this seriously what we're doing.

I agree with him, nor do I believe he's trolling. I don't agree that we must all excuse DiMaggio or feel that he's the "real" victim here. I am repulsed by what he's done. But he, like most abusers, is also a victim of abuse.

You never have to like a criminal, but having some understanding about their circumstances can help prevent tragic things like this from happening in the future. Information is a powerful, and understanding that humans, people like you and I, are entirely capable of horrific things under certain circumstances.

Both things can be true.

I love Jez. I feel like I'm amongst my peeps here. The average person does not know the greatness that is Andre.

There's nothing quite as attractive as someone being exactly who they want to be.

I had the same reaction. Getting an adult mental healthcare against their will is extremely difficult, so it is a good thing that she is getting the help she needs. I just hope this is the beginning of her acknowledging whatever is wrong and working on it in a healthy way.

I love Andre Leon Talley. Dude should get all of his outfits put in a museum so future generations will know what awesome looks like. Also the interview he did with Quvenzhané Wallis should be loop in the background of the exhibit.

I feel like it's insanely telling that this is a group that has moved around a lot in order to find a place that is willing to grant them the lack of oversight they apparently desire.

I'm really pissed about how she put her dog in danger, but other than that I feel bad for her and hope she recovers ASAP.

Found out about that lovely gem about puppy mills a few months ago. Have pretty much told everyone I know since then.

I feel like if half of the population is being terrorized because "religious freedom" then religious freedom should not stand. Terrorizing and marginalizing these women and calling it "freedom" (especially if they have no real way out of it) is a violation of their human rights.

I think your case of being a "bad feminist" is objective- some might actually call this opinion that of a "good feminist". It bums me out when people tag themselves as "bad" feminists b/c they think maybe the majority disagrees- that's part of discourse. (Also, it's apologetic when it needn't be, and women too

I think a lot of the phenomenon has to do with the whole Getting Married Fairy Tale Myth..which begins with the ridiculously expensive wedding and all the attendant obsession. More of us buy into it than we'd like to admit. Then when the wedding wears off, women have the Baby Fantasy and the excitement of the

Oh no, a guy born over 150 years ago didn't completely conform to our modern obsession with political correctness! That makes all of his contributions invalid!
