There hasn’t been a trial. Jeremy hasn’t been officially found guilty of anything, and never will be. So it actually does appear to still be his job to assert his client’s innocence.

He’s not just commenting on the AV Club, though; he’s been expressly hired to represent and defend his client’s interests in court and in public. It’s literally his job to confidently assert his client’s innocence in court and in public.
