I loved Ragnorok, but found myself wishing it had just been toned down maybe 5% to let the dramatic moments land better. The bit that always leaps out is when they’re gazing at the wreckage of Asgard and Korg chimes in with “Ah, no, those foundations are shot”. That didn’t need a joke. That’s a major moment for both

Yeah, but the CNN article cites one Instagram post that quotes one other Korean source for a negative quote. It’s sensationalistic, bad journalism for them to imply generalizations about the society based on a single social media post citing another social media post. But this seems to be how media runs these days:

Agreed that it wasn’t that bad. Love and Thunder was simply more of what lots of people apparently loved in Thor: Ragnarok but the appetite for the formula of relentless switches between action and comedy scenes seems to have waned a bit.

I think so too, about the Valhalla reveal meaning we will probably see Jane again

I got the impression Jane is coming back. The fact we are shown that Valhalla is real and a place she went suggests it’s a place she could potentially be visited or returned from by extraordinary means.

I am apparently the only one who felt it was less silly than Ragnarok, which in my opinion just barely managed not to wreck itself with it silliness. I was worried I wouldn’t like L&T because of all the praise Ragnarok was receiving for its humor  would cause them to go see - we need more that.  I was surprised I felt

I didn’t think Love & Thunder was that bad but it did kind of squander the super-cool idea of Jane as Mighty Thor and was not as funny or well balanced as Ragnorak

Thor 1 was perfectly balanced between the Shakespearean drama and the fish-out-water comedy. It’s just very different than the MCU Space movies became after Phase 2.

That’s a good way to look at it, it was out of balance. The first two movies were too serious, this one was too silly, Ragnarok managed to hit that sweet spot. I’d take the too much fun over the first two any day though.

Why would you trust democracy with someone that passes petty revenge legislation for disagreeing with his fascist laws and passes unconstitutional laws to strip rights from marginalized groups?

You must just truly not give a shit about queers or non-white Americans to think he's not a fascist. He made it a crime for kids to get medical care they need. He's made it illegal for teachers to talk about anything queer related all the way through 12th grade. He's banning queer books left and right and saying it's

This seems like a weird downplaying of what’s happening in Florida where the First Amendment is being cheerfully demolished. DeSantis has done a lot more successful work destroying his state than Trump ever did to your country in his four years of office.

that bed is covered in jizz from all the times he used the threat of blackballing female comedians to coerce them into watching him masturbate

The Louis CK thing i dont care about, (I mean. dont care about them shelving it)-but DeSantis is fucking dangerous, he’s a threat to democracy as much as Trump, shelving any exposes about him is not good.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen it, but I doubt that I would rate it much higher than KotCS because it’s got too many things that I cannot tolerate: a shrieking , useless harpy of a stereotype, a plucky little sidekick who’s just too cute and whose presence is solely to appeal to the children in the audience, and a

I prefer to save the racist and sexist labels for worse, but seriously, this movie is like two hours of solid cringe for Hindus, Sikhs, other South Asians, Chinese people like myself, and women. That’s about 3/4s of all humans for whom this movie is like nails on a chalkboard. Besides Short Round everybody not a

Temple of Doom’s portrayal of the villagers and the surrounding community isn’t always, shall we say, culturally sensitive—not entirely surprising for a movie made four decades ago, but something that might stand out for a first-time viewer in 2023.

Inhumans show so bad its reversing the “Mutants were inhumans all along” angle and is bringing new folks with it.

Yeah, I’m guessing she’ll be at the Hellfire Gala.

There are comic stories worth having emotional reactions to. I’m not sure this is one.
