Back in the summer of 2021 the local Ford dealer and I were 2.5k apart from me walking out with a Mustang Mach E.  I walked and bought a Volvo XC40 Recharge.

ford wants the appearance of a well engineered product, not a well engineered product. doing the right thing is too expensive.

Full disclosure. I’m playing the game right now. Think of me what you will.

It’s truly been blowing my mind watching people work so hard to go to bat for a game they’d unflinchingly give a 5/10 to if it were published by Ubisoft or EA without the franchis tie-in. This whole thing is being held up by nostalgia, bigotry, and childish contrarianism-for-the-sake-of-it

My statement was not that it was bad, but that it was standard. You’re not wrong that using formulas can still result in positive outcomes, but this doesn’t sound like a game interested in using the elements of a formula to form a greater whole. It sounds like one that is applying a license to a template wholesale.

Separate the art from the artist

Its not an exaggeration.  She is literally pals with white supremacists and nationalists and her words are literally being quoted by american right-wing politicians to write anti-trans legislation.

Separate the art from the artist

So did you arrive at this comments section via magical teleportation or did you click on the article?

It has an equivalent to a stealth kill I’ve done in a dozen games since Assassin’s Creed II. It has a UI I could best describe as “default”. It has crafting that sounds not far off from collecting bits of things to mash against other things like in Far Cry 3. I don’t know if it requires you to hold buttons to open

Now playing

Stephanie Sterling breaks down exactly why “virulent transphobe” isn’t at all an exaggeration with Rowling:

She is %100 a virulent transphobe. Also the whole “separating the art from the artist” debate is entirely up to the person consuming that media. You can hate Roman Polanski because he’s a predator and still think Chinatown is a good movie. You can also say you don’t care how revered and good the movie is, you will

#2 - Why can’t this just be a standard video game review? Gameplay, graphics, DLC, etc etc. I don’t see why it can’t be.

Yeah even though I’m of the opinion that Rowling is a hateful transphobe but buying or not buying this game has almost zero effect on her opinions or ability to be a bigot (and just having this opinion makes me a Nazi to some people) it’s not as if I’m rushing out to buy it. The game looks merely fine. I’ll maybe play

Just read the article dummy, it’s not clickbaity at all and is a thoughtful exploration of the issue

Oh she’s definitely a transphobe.

Capitalist pig! You obviously don’t know about our five-year plans!

The only way this game can be realistic is if all of the economic/production data given to the player is completely fabricated and over-inflated, but you don’t know by how much. Like you think you have X units of steel being produced, but the reality is you have a fraction of that. And do that across all of your input

Dude, he just wrote the article, don’t shoot the messenger.

Which is completely irrelevant because people aren’t using “monopolies” literally, but simply are calling monopolies anything that breaks the spirit of anti-trust laws. Which consolidation to the degree the game industry is going through absolutely does.
