Your question is valid. Your statement is not.

Likely because the cost-benefit analysis is so heavily weighted towards the benefit side, from an outcomes perspective.

Take your damned star.

It was rated by the PA DoT as “poor.”

Oh, sure. But every fab still has a ton of engineers and support people making premium money, and a lot of continuing operational costs are contracted locally, too. Intel made me an offer out of grad school, and it definitely wasn’t chump change. That money would have been mostly spent locally (on hockey, restaurants,

If it’s in Licking County as I’d read elsewhere, it’s a good choice. Dow Chemical used to have an R&D center near Granville, and the place is a suburb of Columbus. Good access, high potential to widen roads for traffic if necessary, and a nearby city that’s staid, underrated, and could use an infusion of chaos. XD

Speaking of which, it looks like that’s right about where Intel is building their new $20+ billion plant. Maybe just maybe they won’t need to make their budget completely off of speeding tickets anymore...

Also, another reason why the predictions are so bad is that we weren’t sending up weather satellites to replace those ending their useful lifetimes, because the Senate wouldn’t approve their appropriations in the NOAA budget. Because climate change, or some such.

Spy Hunter.

A consumer protection lawyer would answer that more comprehensively than I ever could.

Not only no, but hell no.  And that’s keeping things clean for the studio audience.
