For a few minutes there, reading this interview was like being on the old AV Club.  Thanks!

For those unaware, some volumes of the comic are just collections of one-shot stories, and I’d been wondering how or if the show was going to handle them. This is the perfect way to do it, and since both of them are from volume 3 after the show’s first season adapted 1 and 2, it looks well that we’ll also get the

We’ve had several movies and shows since Eternals without a single mention that the Earth now has a giant dude sticking out of it.

I’ve shared Jen’s suspicions about Captain America being a virgin. And I find it a little suspect that the Cap depicted in First Avenger was fucking USO girls when he was nursing a quiet love for Peggy, that doesn’t sound like him, so I’m choosing to believe he lied when Bruce (or, more likely, Tony in Bruce’s

I should know better than to treat this comment as a good-faith argument about Bruce vs Jen’s abilities, even though it’s been a tired talking point for a month now since the first preview came out. But it should be stated at least once in the thread that this isn’t what the show actually depicted.

Agreed. I’d much rather see a Wednesday running destructively through Nancy Reagan High then surrounded by similar kids. Especially if the “normal” kids are mostly oblivious to her differences or if you did a mocking take off of Ten Thing I Hate About You.

Yeah, that’s kind of the whole point. The Addams never inflict harm on non-Addams in any meaningful way unless they’re abject horrors (like a serial killer). It’s a really aggressive misunderstanding of the whole Addams appeal.

The thing is Wednesday might attempt mass murder, but the audience would never be shown it. The camera would cut before she dropped the fish, or we’d hear what happened after the fact as an anecdote, but the actual violence has to be off camera for things to remain cartoony and arch rather than sadistic. You can’t do

If this Hogwarts for Goth Girls existed, and they can afford it, and her parents both attended, why did they keep sending her to normie public high schools again and again?

Meh. As others have pointed out, the whole appeal of the Addams family is, despite their appearance and interests, the Addamses are more gracious, open-minded, and well-adjusted than any “normal” suburban nuclear family. Wednesday wouldn’t be above scaring the hell out of a water polo team, but attempted mass murder

It kind of kills my interest, honestly. The joke has always been that despite how terrible these characters theoretically are, we only really see them being a loving family. The gag with the awful mayhem they cause is how we always focus on their warm enjoyment of it, not on the actual suffering itself. It kind of

I mean that’s a funny, pointed post and she was very much in the right. The responses she got from Black Twitter were disgusting, and it’s nuts they caped for a dude displaying toxic behavior instead of a biracial woman, often using her biracialness against her (someone called her an Arnold Palmer child). Just further

Woa... I remember The Addams Family being macabre but relatively bloodless. This series is going for something that might be darker than I expected- and that mildly excites me. I might be sold

It was mostly on Black twitter, not surprised that folks around here weren’t aware of it and don’t seem to grasp it, really. This article leaves out that crucial context: it wasn’t the internet in general that went in on Zoe Kravitz, it was Black people specifically and I think knowing that helps frame her

I love this trailer, but I’m sort of bummed the whole series isn’t about her adventures at a school as ominously named as Nancy Reagan High. I feel like there’s a lot more fun to be had there, than sending her off to Hogwarts Nevermore Academy.

almost lost me at “Tim Burton”, but got me back with “castrated by piranhas”

She posted what would have been the usual Oscar comment which slid into how the night surreally changed into something awful and unexpected, to contrast the two, and clearly was not pro-slap or anything similar. What were people looking for? Hand-wringing only? Will Smith got applauded later in the night.  She should

I honestly have no recollection of her being internet attacked for sharing a very factual opinion lol. the internet is in a wild time right now where some feelings are very justified (Chapelle, Rowling obsession with transphobic comments is naturally going to have people comment back), but then sorry to folks like

She was correct.

She was right though.
