Western Canada, but I moved around a lot and had a fair few teachers from abroad. And it's possible I'm unintentionally pretentious. I definitely don't say "May-hee-co" though. Nor "Barthelona".

Well to be fair American movies do not tend to include a geographical map indicating their location. Plus Canadian cities are stand-ins for a lot of American movies. And look at Friends, for example - set in NYC but filmed in CA.

Huh, I was taught to pronounce it Chil-lay. Saying "Chilly" sounds like dinner to me.

It's just the way typing was taught on typewriters. No relationship to troglodytes.

I loved David Copperfield but I had a hard time with Great Expectations. I think because the latter had so much descriptive writing and I prefer dialogue.

"when Rock of Ages was a pebble" - I think that's the opposite of how erosion over time works. Maybe "when Rock of Ages was a boulder"?

Holy cow does Ramsay have strong hands! Who on earth can rip a fur stole in half? The show could have ended on that bit of symbolism and left out the actual rape. A sheep in wolf's clothing…

So all "successful" politicians are Scientologists?

I agree. For lunches that need to be warmed up, I bring food to work in Rubbermaid containers and heat it up, using a microwave, in a bowl I keep at work.

Actually I've been using this identical lunch box for a few years! Sandwich/pizza slice/wrap (etc.) and cookie on the bottom, fruit/veggies on the top. I never use the small "lunchpod" though. The lunch box has held up, although the locking mechanism needs to be re-bent from time to time, but it's easy enough to do so

First time I heard this song I was sure it was an Elton John cover.

Was this before you discovered AV Club?
