This practice seems to be universally hated, into this day.

This honestly never bothered me and I don’t get the hate.

Is racing against the clock, rather than wheel to wheel, not racing?

No, it implies racing, on the street.

No, it doesn’t.

I think the idea that it’s somehow worse to do this during the coronavirus is quite wrong—yes, a crash will pull resources away from the virus, but a crash during “normal” times could very well kill a family or other innocent roadgoers. Minimizing the risk of that kind of incident seems to at least balance the

“If literally one thing goes wrong—if the team needs to call for help or a tow truck, if they get stopped, if they crash—literally anything goes wrong here and these guys would be pulling resources from an otherwise already overloaded system, not to mention potentially increasing the risk of contracting coronavirus by

- go to grocery store

Depends on geography and family. May still want it for groceries/socializing and getting the kids to school if the transit is not existent. Same if you have kids and live northish. I knew some 4person families in Seattle that were bicycle exclusive before all this hit though

I haven’t been sick since I don’t remember so I guess my immune system is good but I do have weak lungs. Yea, shit is scary.

If Musk wanted to have a design-off today for $100K I would take the challenge. Bring it.

Musk is not an engineer.

I basically replied that we’d have to agree to disagree. He then said that I couldn’t afford a Tesla anyway and that I was just jealous.

I’ll continue to argue that Musk is not a good engineer. He’s an idea man. He’ll say, “Wouldn’t it be cool it...” and then tells his people to make it happen by throwing scads of money at the project. Then all the fanboys mess themselves saying what a genius he is.

That’s just not true.

Because of his cult like followers & the refusal of many in the media to call a spade a spade. People don’t want to get gamer-gated by his army of incels.

Some folks do not know about journals. Jalopnik’s reach can spread good info.

How hasn’t this guy been cancelled yet? I like Tesla but I can’t stand Musk. He’s both a poor man’s Steve Jobs and an over-the-top Steve Jobs. He wants to be as good a marketeer as Jobs but falls short, and he wants to seem “crazy” like Jobs but manages to be even worse than Jobs in his antics. Jobs’ narcissist
