For the Delorean Car Shownback in 2016, my dad and I loaded up my Delorean for the trip from Pittsburgh to Springfield, Il. We hit a Crackerbarrel restaurant for every meal which usually ended up being steak.
Wait... you got to ride INSIDE the Ford Ranger?
This is the most awesome build ever. He could have gone the easier (and probably cheaper) route and bought a 911, or just told the kids that they get to ride with dad one at a time. Instead, he went full Jalop. On two continents.
For me it was the Batmobile from the two Tim Burton films. I was born the year the movie came out and literally grew up with it. The other Batmobiles were fine, but something about that Burton Batmobile always stuck with me. One reason I love my wife’s car, 2011 Camaro SS, is that it has similar body lines as that…
The Delorean, watching back to the future and that car rolls out of the trailer was love at first sight.
EPA and emissions killed everybody.
Take a wrecked Delorean, rip out the gas tank in the front and put a small four cylinder engine with a front wheel drive system in front, and replace the rear engine with a 2jz twin turbo with a Porsche transmission.
We all should not blame the PRV for its rather underwhelming performance in the DMC-12. We should blame emission equipment, which was rooted deeply in the malaise era.
Bravo on getting the facts right!
They did! They did a lot of it!
Didn’t Lotus have a hand in engineering the DMC-12?
Cool cars and companies always have an amazing background story. You just don’t get that with remakes or cars of today. The entire culture is so diluted and people just care about Apple CarPlay and lane assistance etc. A great piece of writing and video Alex. Cheers !
Mine is mint inside and out. It has 22k and runs like a top. They are a workout to drive! With a manual transmission it’s fast enough. When I want fast I have a 418hp mk2 TT that fills that need.
Back in late 80's I had the chance to drive one for about 2 weeks as my daily driver. Wasn’t much fun to drive performance wise, but what a blast it was for the attention it got. Every stop light, every parking lot, it gathered a crowd. This was in SE Pa, and parts of MD, very rural areas, and it was something to…
Actually this might be the twin-turbo V8 Delorean that someone customized. Years ago, a guy put a Lotus V8 with twin-turbos in his Delorean. The unique wheels also point to this being the same Delorean.
Interesting to note that the Delorean in the video is turbo’d (I can’t tell if single or twin arrangement).
Everyone remembers the DeLorean DMC-12 for its doors, for its unpainted body, for the movie. But it in and of itself…
Yeah but you love it
Try pulling up in a Delorean, endless “facts” and comments on how my car is a piece of shit from someone who has never seen one before.
