The Ami is good for 50miles at less than 30mph. There is going to be a very small subset of the population where that meets their needs. Start adding in any safety gear so you can go 50mph and the cost will skyrocket. See the smart EV.

That was a big idea around 2010. I don’t think the math ever worked out since the trucks didn’t spend enough time in stop and go conditions to make up for having to carry the extra weight.

Because they are talking 10-15+ years in the future. That is a long time. The tesla semi might have  been on the market for 10 years. Might... In a lot of ways these releases are just for planning. Thats why you rent your car from hertz and get a new one ever couple of months.... Seriously in 8 years I wouldn’t be shocked to see 10x+ apartments offering charging. We are getting close to the tipping point for adoption.

Isn’t taxi sharing mainly to exploit the medallion? I am not sure it matters much if you wear out your car in 4 years or 8 years and there are some benefits to not sharing your car.

This a PR release. In 3-5 years when people are buying cars they will be driving in 2030, it will start to matter. But odds are when 2030 arrives, things will be postponed. When they see that only half of their fleet is EVs, they will go no new ICEs but existing ones can stick around for a few more years....

I have to imagine at some point they are looking to add something like apples neural engine or googles tensor that is optimized for machine learning instead of graphics like a gpu. But I am not sure what available cores there are for things like that. I doubt car companes really want to go all in on  chip design…
