I get that its not for everyone (most people even), but why does everyone feel the need to say they don’t like it? We give room for most things here, but this seems to be the one thing people need to stand up and let everyone know they don’t like.

Jalopnik is my go-to example for a respectful community that supports people the don’t necessarily see eye to eye with but lord to the wheels fall off when someone throws up a drifting post. Depends on what you mean by worthless. For gear they are more or less pointless yeah. I lapsed after vanilla and just got the expansions and intend to run the second raid despite the gear being worthless just because the first raid was so much fun. They are still enjoyable gaming experiences but the gear is garbage…

If you haven’t played Destiny before the year one guns refer to the pre-Taken King guns so you would be far less affected by them being worthless than people who have been playing. Most gear (maybe all that you don’t get from year one engrams?) you’d be getting at this point would be year two.

I did decrypt one warlock helm with my hunter which is what made me go warlock when I made a second character for unlocks. It does happen, but it seems very rare.

I got two in a row then realized the odds of opening something for your class seem much higher and there is only the one year 2 chest for hunters atm. I started a warlock just to open the remaining chest engram and sure enough I got a warlock chest instead of another Alpha Lupi.

I could also probably find someone to sell you a box that gave you free cable which is great because free cable but is also illegal. I think they have a right to be upset by the situation.

If you have a physical copy and don’t mind dealing with the demon gamestop, you can trade in your original for $20 credit toward the version that includes all the dlc which makes it $40.
