I once got one of those clip-on lamps for my old Gameboy Advance as a kid because there was no backlight before they released the Advance SP. That thing sucked and just created an unplayable glare on the screen

When I’m in charge, it’ll be mandatory that everyone own arcade machines for every time crisis game and place them wherever the couch would be in their living room.

Hell yea

I dont know if this fits under the purview of “video game disappointments” but this is a wild list so I’ll include it:

In true Luke Plunkett fashion, I’m gonna rank your 10 GOTY picks in order of which provides the best sneakerhead experience.

I loved this video last year! Gita’s choices are all great and the Pokemon edit cracked me up.

Heather, this is the piece I’ve needed in my life, and the one I hoped to write one day if a gaming publication ever decides to pay me for my crappy opinions. Thanks for effectively kicking me out of the market!

I love the idea of Switch becoming a platform with games like Mario Maker, Supermash, stuff like Little Big Planet... so that up and coming designers can explore.

The history of video game characters losing their hats/showing bruises sounds like a Kotaku blog in the making to me.

Listen, please don’t expose me and make me lose my Gamer Cred by forcing me to admit that I’ve never played a Fable game.

Ugh time to scrape the layers of mud off my 3DS so i can play the new Shovel Knight DLC. Spectre of Torment is one of the best 2d platformers I’ve ever played and I’m really excited to see what they’ve done now.

I would like to, at this time, bring up Batman: Arkham Asylum as the pioneer for games that let you see your injuries and changes on your character as the game progresses.

Would we be here at all without that first big piece Cecilia did on Riot? Idk. All I know is that Twitch article made my Monday worse and this piece made it better!

When revisiting great boss themes I often go back to Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. This entire series (up to Super Paper Mario) was never afraid to get downright weird with its score but TTYD has a great mix of playful and tense battle themes, and many that lie inbetween.

IMO FFXV has one of the best ending chapters in the entire series. The return to the world of ruin is really well done from a gameplay, story and character perspective, and I only wish we could explore it further. But while the ending levels are great, I found myself really disappointed with the final boss. FF games

With Heather, Jason and now Peter, we should change the name from Kotaku to “Suikoden Fan Site.” This may be the piece that gets me to finally play this game, as I had no idea it was a jrpg on such a large narrative scale. I just wish it were on steam.

Honestly the SMO speed running community is lovely. So many nice people. Timpani is lovely, as is Bayleef (who will be running SMO at AGDQ this January) and my personal favorite, Ddangers. Happy to see them get recognition on here.

It’s weird that Blizzard feels the need to cut costs for a ‘lean’ year when some of its biggest games are based around some kind of long-term profit model. Overwatch and its loot boxes, WoW and it’s subscriptions.. I feel like there are others I can’t recall off the top of my head. I mean, wasn’t 2017 also a ‘lean’

First time responding to one of these posts! This weekend I’m playing LOTS of Devil May Cry 4. Maybe more if I convince myself to buy the special edition. The hype for DMC5 is washing over me, but I’ve long loved DMC4 on PC and consider it to be the most relaxing game I’ve ever played. Once you learn all the things a
