Totally. They were probably jealous that you got to him and they didn't, sadly.

I needed student loans, too. I had very poor parents; there was no way they could help. But student loans didn't cover my grocery costs, rent, or flights home, so it was work or starve. At the time, I was quite thin, so feared starving. These days, I would have seen starving as a diet plan ;)
