I'm OK with tragedy but make it an interesting tragedy. I love a good tragedy, when well done and original.

I seem to read more and more pre-1990 fiction as time goes on.

These days I'm mostly reading pre-1990 sci-fi (and fiction in general) because so much new sci-fi is dull or depressing. There is definitely an audience out there for stories with excitement or fun in them.
