Just started reading Sandman. Got through Preludes and Nocturnes and The Dolls House. The first felt like homework…not a big fan of Sam Keith's art. But it really picks up as soon as Death is introduced, and the art switches to Mike Dringenberg. That second trade is sooo much better than the first, but I was

I hear ya, except I mostly feel like I just missed my boat by being born a bit too early. I wish I'd been in high school during this current generation that's so accepting of nerdiness and geekiness, and is all about progressiveness and anti-bullying. Although who knows, I'm probably just idealizing it, and this

She's the queen of my favorite film genre, "white lady goes on spiritual journey of self-discovery" movies.

It's in my netflix queue, but I haven't felt the urge to watch it either. It does look like empty style. And boy, The Bad Batch looks terrible.

I really, really want to see it, but yes that's kind of what it looks like. It looks like Selma Hayek versus a bunch of strawmen, but I can't deny I want to see John Lithgow get his comeuppance.

"The notion of a woman hero is a fine example of women’s eagerness to accept the appearance of achievement without actual achievement. Women learn from an early age to value make-up, that it’s OK to pretend that you are greater than you actually are. Women pretend they do not know that only men serve in combat because

Yeah, thats probably the reason why its so hard to pin down any specific piece of music from the MCU. I also think Marvels obsession with tonal consistency between all their movies pretty much cancels out the possibility of any distinctive theme music, since a really good one would naturally stand out.

A B- to a B was about the best I was hoping for, so, Hooray! Good enough!

I'll say this about the DC movies, at least they're not half-assing their scores with temp-music the way Marvel has been doing. They're not great either, but at least they're trying. Man of Steel had a pretty good score.

Why does he get a cookie? I want a cookie!

It's got nothing on Superman's theme from the Richard Donner movie, or Danny Elfman's Batman theme, but it's distinctive in it's own way.

Better uniforms too. WWI soldiers were all wearing those goofy looking saucer helmets.

I'm starting on that path myself. I've had depression and social anxiety for most of my life, and I always thought it would get better as I aged, and it just hasn't. I've gotten better at dealing with it, but it's always there. And it sucks because it's really something I can't talk to anyone about, because then

Exactly.

Awww. Im seeing it with me mum!

Maybe, but theres no way she could've called out a specific movie without turning it into a personal issue that would've distracted from her message. It would've turned into a big stupid debate.

I dont think she was thinking of her career, just that there would be a lot of disadvantages to her argument if she named a specific example. This way everyone can just agree with the sentiment, even if they dont know which movies she's referring to. Also, she was a member of the jury, so calling out someone

Because she doesn't want to start shit with some director.

Well, for obvious reasons she can't call out a specific movie.

Awwww. Whosagoodboy?
