Apology issued. Thought you were referencing the TT, not the Lexus, since your post mentioned neither. Be more specific and you won’t be accused of being misinformed. That tip is free.  Have a nice day.

TT has WAY more autoX potential than a Miata.  Depends on what class you want to run in.

You’re horribly misinformed, mid $40K’s.

You can’t convince people that these cars aren’t unreliable. I daily a 1.8t GTI with 236K miles on the original turbo. My 225 coupe has 113K miles on it and has been super reliable as well. People think putting gas in a car is enough maintenance and if it blows a coil pack every other year, it’s a flaming money pit.

You mean like turning a key?  ;)

How many of those make it into taxi service?   I’ll hang up and listen....

True, but most drivers can’t absorb that theory, and also not why paddles are required on CVTs.

Blame NHTSA. The rule states there must be a way to downshift the car for safety reasons. If the trans controls only have PRND, then you need a programmed simulated downshift that can be actuated via a flappy paddle. Source : was a powertrain engineer for an OE manufacturer.

As an owner of multiple Mk1 TTs, I love this.  I may have done this multiple times.

I’m gonna rent me a backhoe, and uproot dat tree. I want the gold. Where da gold at?

Can relate...as I have two. To me they’re cheap and easy to work on. To others they’re money pits......
