I just checked my neighborhood and found no foreclosed properties. I take that as a good reflection of the local economy.

But will Babble.ly give up the goods if the cops ask?

@mrjeremiahross: The one feature of WordPerfect that Word never adopted that I dearly miss is "Make It Fit." It was just so cool to be able to make that 12-page paper fit into 10 pages at the click of a button. WordPerfect would adjust the margins and font to make it fit into whatever number of pages you desired.

@scojac: I travel frequently and I usually tip the hotel maid if I'm staying more than one night. I carry envelopes with me and leave the tip in an envelope daily. I place the envelope on the nightstand and it's clearly labeled so the maid will know what it is.

I always give an extra holiday tip to my barber. He's been cutting my hair for the past 15 years and always does a great job. He has even opened the shop and let me come in on his days off because I was going out of town. I usually tip him an extra $20 over the cost of the haircut for the holidays.

I don't have much of a choice in the matter. Although the company will be officially closed on Thanksgiving Day and the following Friday, about half of our clients will be open for business on Friday. For Christmas, however, most of our clients will be closed for up to 2 straight weeks while we're only closed for 4

If they would add conference call capability, I'd be truly sold on the product. I need to be able to support conference calls of up to 200 people from time to time.

I spend a lot of my time waiting for other people to do things that they need to do before I can do those things that I need to do. Some days are a complete waste while other days are overwhelmingly busy. Some days are spent just following up with coworkers to keep them on task.

To get downtime at work I go outside with the smokers even though I

I use activated charcoal that I buy in bulk at the aquarium store. My first experience with it was when I had left my car windows down and a sudden thunderstorm soaked my seats and carpeting. Although I cleaned everything the car still reeked. I poured some activated charcoal onto a small tray and left it in the

@sweetmonkey: I have never successfully recovered anything I have ever left in a hotel room. Like you, I'll get put on hold for a long time and then the person will come back with an apology. At this point I'm just super-paranoid about making certain that I have everything when I check out. Since I travel about

It is also important to set an out-of-office email notification with the same type of information. I find it important to let clients know that if I'm traveling on business any response might be delayed by several hours or may come after normal business hours. It gives them the option of going to someone else who

I've used Chameleon Startup Manager for a while and have enjoyed its features. It is like Startup Delayer in that it allows you to delay your startup applications but you can also disable or remove them. It shows you which apps launch for All Users, Current User, plus what's loading in RunOnce. It took a little

So now that I go to get it the add-on is not available. What gives?

@wolfman544: My guess is that as soon as the person she meant to send the pic to let her know that he didn't get it, she would have realized that she sent it to the wrong person. At that point logic would dictate that she would have checked to see who she sent it to, realized it was me, and figured that she wouldn't

I generally do nothing when I receive a mis-fire unless it's something that appears serious. If it does appear serious I'll reply to the sender. One amusing misfire that happened recently involved a friend. I'm sure she meant to send the email to someone else but instead I was the recipient of a photo of her boobs.

This applies not only in negotiations but in other areas of business as well. If you tell a client that the project will be completed in 3-5 days they only hear the lower number and will be looking for it to be finished on Day 3. If you say that it will be completed in 5 days but deliver it after 3 days, you look

@Improbable: I made the switch to a straight razor about 10 years ago and have never looked back. I even shave my head with it. If I'm careful to dry the blade after use I can get a couple of months out of each one before I have to replace it. For the past couple of years I've been using my wife's hair dryer and

I have to be online throughout the day while I'm at work so I'm rarely online at home. My prime time would be 8am - 5pm.

That's a bit of a waste but if you have a computer that is otherwise collecting dust, you might as well use it for something.
